Veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments available. They can be used to help cosmetically treat and correct a smile with cracked or chipped teeth, overlapping teeth, small gaps and discolouration.
Usually made up of ultra-thin layers of ceramic material, they are then cemented onto the natural tooth. In some cases, they can also be made from composite. Thanks to the use of cutting-edge materials, veneers appear more natural-looking than ever before, mimicking not only the natural surface and shade of a tooth, but the way light reflects off it too.
As with all our cosmetic treatments, your journey towards veneers – and a happier smile – will start with a consultation. If we decide together that this is the right treatment path for you, then you’ll return here to the practice. First, we’ll take a digital scan so that your veneers can be made for you, and then once they’re ready, you’ll come back in to have them applied by our highly skilled and experienced team. The treatment does involve the removal of a thin layer of natural tooth enamel in order to secure the success of the veneers. However, thanks to advances in the industry and techniques of application, far less of the tooth have to be removed than was previously required.
Veneers are fairly durable, and can last up 10 years with the right oral care and hygiene.
